NPR did this story in 2009. Everything in my title seems wrong. First, why is Stimulus money going toward Filipino WWII Vets? Why $198 Million? Why Filipinos? and why now? (more than a half century later)
Lots of questions, but however they rigged this, and whatever the motive, at least the Filipino Vets who gave up much of their prime for loyalty to a foreign country that made promises, only to pull back from them, and then bring them back in to become US citizens, only to make that an asterisk of second class citizens…at least, they get this token recognition. Many of the 200,000 probably didn’t live to see this day, but my Grandfather would have been proud even if it was just a few days late, under seemingly unrelated circumstances…

It is the same worldwide, if you study laugnages you will see how one foreign language creeps into another.English is based on a huge number of foreign laugnages, and here in NZ we have the same thing with Maori words creeping into our language, and the other way around.Often when I listen to the News in Maori, when I am waiting for a programme to start, I will hear English words spoken.
